New Bond console added, 2014
Bond Organ Builders has recently completed and installed a new console for the Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore, Washington. The church requested a low profile, two manual console to complement the organ casework previously made by Bond in during our rebuild of the organ in 1998. The case had been constructed of Peruvian walnut with panels of domestic black walnut. The console was designed and built by Master Craftsman John Stump.
The console’s joinery and details in its case were inspired by the work of the Craftsman architects Greene and Greene. It was built of dark Peruvian walnut with contrasting highlights in lighter domestic black walnut. Our design also integrated an homage to a beautiful and beloved Madrone tree on the church’s property which had been cut down. At their request, we were happy to perpetuate this special tree by using some of its beautiful wood in the key desk area and for banding around the console’s top.
